Alfred Wesley Parker, 85, went to his heavenly home in Big Creek surrounded by loved ones. He was born October 15, 1931 in Big Creek. Alfred was the son of the late Tom Hill and Imogene Walton Parker of Big Creek. He was a director in both Farm Bureau and Federal Land Bank, a lifelong land owner, farmer, cattleman, member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church, and a Korean War Veteran.
Alfred was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Gosa and survived by three siblings Tommy Parker, Linda Wright, and Charles Parker. Alfred married the love of his life, Alice Faye Hubbard Parker, on Wednesday February 3, 1950. Sixty-seven years of marriage brought three children Gary (Sharon) Parker, Steve (Lisa) Parker, and Cindy (Harvey) Hardin who currently reside in Big Creek, MS. five grandchildren: Toby Parker, Tyler (Blaine) Parker, Courtney (Brant) Davis, Trey (Stephanie) Hardin, and Parker Shea (Alan) Woodcock. Seven great-granchildren: Bailey, Brody, Spencer, Lynlee, Brantley, Owen Hill, and Oakley. Alfred was also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Joyce Watkins.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. with a funeral service honoring his life held at 11:00 on Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Bro. Jimmy Vance and Bro. Mike Smith. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Upon Alfred’s request his grandchildren and their spouses will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Howell, David Howell, Kenneth Langford, Mark Hannaford, Barney Wade, Lee Peden, and Joshua McFerrin.
