Angela Raquel Swanson Williams, a beloved mother, spouse, sister, and friend, passed away on January 11, 2025, at her home in Oxford, Mississippi, at the age of 54. Born on December 29, 1970, in Guin, Alabama, Angela's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for education.
Angela was a proud graduate of Calhoun Academy, Class of 1988, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Mississippi. She devoted her professional life to the North Panola School District, where she impacted countless lives through her compassion and expertise as a Speech Pathologist.
Angela's love for family was at the heart of everything she did. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Pierce Williams; her mother, Sarah Hicks Swanson, her three daughters, Dayka Briscoe, Kara (Ben) Barbee, and Cassie Williams al of Oxford, MS; her son, J.P. Williams and her cherished grandchildren, Micah Briscoe, Chandler Kate Barbee, Deacon Briscoe, and Charlee Reese Barbee. She also leaves behind her special friend that were like sisters, Angela Byrd and Angie Smith, her brother, Jim Swanson, and her aunts, Frances Simmons and Monette Gann. Angela's spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched in so many ways.
A passionate supporter of Alabama football, Angela found joy in cheering for her team, much like she found pride in rooting for her grandchildren during their sport events. Her enthusiasm for life extended to watching her grandson play baseball and attending her granddaughter’s gymnastics competitions, where her encouraging presence was always a source of strength.
A public viewing for Angela will be held on January 15, 2025, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home at 12:00 PM. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Ronnie Dickinson. Following the service, Angela will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery. Bubba Freely, Bill Haimes, Tim Hicks, Anthony Hudson, Steve Nevitt, and Johnny Rikard will be serving as pallbearers.
Angela will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we gather to honor her memory, we invite all who knew and loved Angela to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
