Anita Baker Chrestman

June 5, 1946 — April 11, 2022

Calhoun City

Listen to Obituary

Anita Baker Chrestman, 75, of Calhoun City passed from this life on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Bruce Community Living Center. She was welcomed into this world by her late parents, John Dewey Baker and Blanche Beatrice Simpson Baker, on the summer day of June 5, 1946, in Calhoun County.

Anita spent many decades married to her loving husband Jessie Ray “Jack” Chrestman. The love that existed between this couple could be measured by not only the length of their marriage but also by the memories made traveling through the mountain tops and of valleys of life. While this marriage produced lasting memories, it also gave life to four children, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Aside from showering her family with love and spoiling her children and grandchildren alike, Anita was blessed with an angelic voice and possessed the complementary skill of playing the piano. She found joy in using her talents to glorify the name of her Lord and bless the hearts of those who listened to her music. Aside from her love for music, she loved all things flowers and could often be found tending to her garden. Anita did not simply pass away. She held the cure to death in her soul, an active relationship with her Lord whom she worshiped with her church family at Macedonia Baptist Church. Although she has departed from our presence, she has gone to rest in a place free sickness and the pains of age.

She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; husband, Jessie Ray “Jack” Chrestman of Calhoun City; four daughters: Annette( Kenny) Clanton of Big Creek; Renee (Sam) Tutor of Calhoun City; Regina (Wade) Hamilton of Vardaman; Deanna (John) Ramsey of Calhoun City; eleven grandchildren: Brandyn (Raquel) Roidl of Calhoun City; Savanna (Lonnie) Morphis of Calhoun City; TJ (Heather) Clanton of Big Creek; Sam (Crystal)Tutor, Jr. of Calhoun City; Heather Tutor of Jackson, Tennessee; Paul Tutor of Texas; Jake (Brandi) Hamilton of Lexington; Katelyn (Casey) Rounsaville of Big Creek; Jerrod Ramsey of Calhoun City; John Morgan (Katie) Ramsey of Ecru; six great grandchildren; one brother, James Melton Baker of Houston, Texas.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Baker and Blanche Beatrice Simpson Baker; one brother, Bro. Billy Wayne Baker; one sister, Betty Carolyn Malone.
