Arthur Wesson Newman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025 in Bruce Community Living Center, at the age of 80. Born on February 11, 1945, in Bruce, Mississippi, Arthur spent his life deeply rooted in his hometown, where he formed lasting connections and shared countless memories.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Kay Wade Newman of Bruce, MS, and his children, Libby (Dave) Kuchta of Water Valley, MS, and David (Julie) Newman of Bruce, MS. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Maggie Kate Kuchta, Riley Newman, Kade Kuchta, Reed Newman, Chloe Clements, and Benson Clements. He is also remembered by his sister, Dorothy Tharpe.
He was preceded in death by his father; Judson Newman, mother, Zeta Rae Lucas Newman, and sister, Dixie Russell.
Arthur was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He found solace in the great outdoors, where he reveled in hunting, particularly his cherished bear hunting trips in Arkansas, and enjoyed peaceful days spent fishing. His passions were a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for nature.
A funeral service honoring his memory will be held on Wednesday, August 6 2025 at 1:00 PM in Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel of Bruce, MS with Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Harvey Vance officiating. The family will recieve friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Arthur will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery with Jeff Barefield, Chase Clements, Cody Clements, Roger Dale Goodson, Andy Massey and Danny Massey will serve as pallbearers. John Christ, Clettus Gunner, Jeff Robertson and Benny Stewart will serve as honorary pallbearers.
As we gather to celebrate Arthur's life, we reflect on the countless moments shared, the laughter and love he brought into our lives, and the indelible mark he has left on all who knew him. He will be sorely missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved.
