Bennie Logan Rogers

Bennie Lavee Logan Rogers, 89, departed from this life on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at her home in Bruce after an extended illness.              Born on July 7, 1931, in the Rocky Mount Community, Bennie was a daughter to the late Jim Enoch Logan and Eunice Burt Logan.

Bennie was a hard working lady by nature; her idle moments were few and far between. She spent many hours of her life operating a sewing machine for the Glenn Slacks Corporation before deciding to retire. However, Bennie never understood the definition of the word retirement; she merely quit punching a time clock. Bennie became a staple at her daughter’s flower shop, Connie’s Flower and Gift Boutique, where she was known by many names such as: the straw boss, delivery lady, but most importantly, Connie’s right hand.  Her favorite time of year was Valentine’s Day when she prepared dozens of snack baskets for the heart throbs of others. When Bennie was not racking up miles on the delivery van she could be found in her favorite place, the great outdoors. Much like her late husband Charles, Bennie enjoyed mowing the yard. She also had a green thumb and put those skills to work every spring in her expansive vegetable and flower gardens. Bennie was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, a place where she worshiped and learned about the wonders of the Lord.

Bennie leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life: one daughter Connie Rogers of Bruce, three sisters Martha Rogers (caregiver) of Bruce, Lucille Lafayette of Calhoun City, and Erma Bryant of Bruce.

Bennie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Rogers, daughter Teresa Ann Rogers, son-in-law Lynn Murphree, parents, Jim Enoch Logan and Eunice Burt Logan, two brothers Bill Logan and Sonny Logan, and three sisters Myrtice Langley, Clara Mae Beckett, and Evelyn Earp.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering Bennie's life will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. J.R Eaton, Bro. David Haggerty, and Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Luke Andrews, Jamie Earp, Ricky Earp, John Langley, Mike Langley, John Moore, Carlon Stone, and Jock Tunnell will carry Bennie to rest in the Bruce Cemetery.
