Benny Franklin Goodman, 74, of Abbeville, MS, departed from this life at his home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1949, in Memphis, TN, to the late Milburn Louis Goodman and Mary Emojean Miller Goodman.
Benny spent many seasons of life as an auto mechanic. Benny also served his country in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. His rank at discharge was SPC-5 (E-5). In his spare time, Benny enjoyed DIY carpenter wood and bass fishing. He was a graduate of Westwood High School and loved to attend class reunions. Benny was a singer with New Creation Quartet. He loved gospel music. Benny was a member of Faith Chapel in Banner.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty Phyllis Goodman of Abbeville, MS; daughter, Amanda (Brian) Hudson of Oxford, MS; two sons: Jessie (Kathy) Goodman of Oxford; Robert (Carol) Goodman of Memphis. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Milburn Louis Goodman and Mary Emojean Miller Goodman; three sisters: Mary Jo Addington, Jane Peeples, and Melba Williams; brother, Timmy Goodman.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 03, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The service honoring Benny's life will take place on Sunday, December 03, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Larry Wicker officiating. Brian Davis, Davis Goodman, Michael Goodman, Brian Hudson, Landon Hudson, Tony Potts, and Caden Ware will carry Benny to rest in Banner Cemetery.
