Betty Sue Cannon, who left this world on December 11, 2025, just days shy of her 80th birthday. Betty was born on December 19, 1945, in Marvell, Arkansas, to Cecil Lowing and Lucy Idenia Tharpe.
Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Laquita (Kyle) Clements and Gloria "Dodie" Cannon; her sons, James Cannon and Craig (Nancy) Derrick; and her cherished grandchildren: Chad Carpenter, Summer Sultan, Loring Cannon, and Dustin Hardin. Her legacy continues with four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. Betty took immense joy in caring for her family, often expressing her love through her nurturing nature and affinity for flowers.
In addition to her family roles, Betty spent many years as a dedicated seamstress at Cottage Lane, where her hard work and craftsmanship were admired by many. A member of Central Baptist Church in Grenada, she found comfort and fellowship within her church community.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Betty's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Pinecrest Memorial Garden in Calhoun City, Mississippi with Bro. Gladwyn Carpenter officiating.
Betty Sue Cannon will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved.
Betty was preceded in death by husband; Billy Earl Cannon, parents; Cecil Tharpe and Lucy Tharpe, along with sister; Bobbye McCormick, and brothers; Carlton Tharpe, Ed Tharpe, William Tharpe, and Clive Tharpe.
