Betty Joan "Granny" Turner, 85, of Bruce passed away on April 15, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS, in Oxford, MS. She was born on April 23, 1938, to the late Estell and Ercell Mulkey. Betty was a beloved mother to Pattie Romine and Sherry Turner, adored grandmother to Jay Bullard, Stacy Bullard, Jenny Collins, Jeremy Romine, and treasured great-grandmother to eighteen and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Richard Mulkey, and her sisters Molly Bush and Diane Shows.
Betty's warmth and kindness endeared her to many. She found joy in simple pleasures, relishing in friendly card games and domino matches. Her culinary talents were renowned, with her canned vegetables and delicious chicken and dumplings bringing comfort and delight to all who savored her cooking.
In remembrance of Betty's life, a public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS, on April 19, 2024, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Sam Morgan and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. The burial, a moment of final farewell, will take place at Antioch Cemetery with Jay Bullard, Butch Romine, Aidyn Collins, Taylor Downs, Ty Long, Devin Pierce, Donivon Romine, and Jeremy Romine serving as pallbearers. Haston Bullard, Preston Bullard, Randy Smith, Grant Walling, Payton Wooldridge, and T. J. Welch will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Betty's legacy of love and laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Derl Turner; her father Estell Mulkey; her mother Ercell Mulkey; brothers: Jimmy Mulkey, Bill Mulkey, and Jerry Mulkey; sisters: Shirley Nell Mulkey, Jeanette Melton, Sara Swink, and Mary Arlene Castleberry; grandson Gen Bullard, and a great-granddaughter Emma Kay Moore-Bullard. Best friend Patsy Freely.
