It is with fond remembrance that we celebrate the life of Billy Van Clark, who left this world on July 19, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 24, 1936, in Calhoun County, Mississippi to parents, Henry and Johnnie Clark. Billy Van was the devoted husband of the late Geraldine Clark, whom he shared many years of marriage. Together they were blessed with four children: Sherry, Winnon, Connie, and Chad. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. His legacy resides in the hearts of his beloved family and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
Billy Van proudly served his country in the Army from May of 1959, until his discharge on April 30, 1965, achieving the rank of Specialist 5. He later dedicated himself to a career in road maintenance with Calhoun County, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his community.
Billy Van had a passion for music that resonated deeply within him. He loved to sing and shared his joy of bluegrass music with all who gathered around him. A talented musician, he played the fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, often filling the air with the sounds that brought friends and family together.
Billy Van was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for many years. He was known for his unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He took pride in uplifting others through prayer, song, and fellowship throughout his life. His presence was a steady source of encouragement and warmth to all who walked along side him. Billy Van loved the Lord deeply and lived according to his word, leaving behind a legacy of grace, devotion, and service that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Billy Van is survived by his cherished children Sherry Brower (David), Connie Mulkey, Winnon Clark (Staci), and Chad Clark (Jennifer) all of Bruce, MS. He also leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren - Chase Clark (Lizzie), Cade Clark, Cody Brower, Colton Brower (Logan), Cole Clark, Summer Williams (Austin), Leah Clark, and Callie Clark - as well as several adored great-grandchildren, including Henry Mills, Daniel Warren, Michael Logan, Matthew Scott, Katherine Faye, Henley Caroline, Luke Jeb and soon to be welcomed Haisley Clark. He is further survived by his sister Patsy Bolland (Charles) of Belden, MS and sister-in-law Mary Clark of Bruce, MS.
Serving as pallbearers are Chase Clark, Cade Clark, Cole Clark, Cody Brower, Colton Brower, and Austin Williams. Along with honorary pallbearers Craig Anfinson and Doug Anfinson.
Services to honor Billy Van's remarkable life will be held on July 22, 2025. A public viewing will take place at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM officiated by Bro. Kevin Chrestman with assistance from Bro. Joey Hamilton. A graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Moriah Cemetery following funeral service, where he will be laid to rest.
Billy Van's spirit shines on through the music he loved, the memories shared, and the family he cherished. Let us come together to celebrate the impact of his life and the love he gave so generously.
Billy Van was preceded in death by his loving wife Geraldine Clark, father Henry Clark, mother Johnnie Clark, sister Wilma Turner, and brother Charlie Clark.
In lieu of flowers the Clark family would like all memorial contributions to be made to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Fund.
