Billy Van James

Billy Van James, 81, passed away on February 11, 2024, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Billy Van was born in Chickasaw County on July 11, 1942, to the late William Van and Mary Bell Lester James.

Billy Van served his country in the US Army after graduating from Houlka High School.  He attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. Billy Van was the parts manager for Hood Equipment until his retirement.  He was also a farmer and a big Mississippi State fan.  He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Billy is survived by his sons Chris (LeAnn) James of Waveland, MS, and Pat (Brittnie) James of Houlka, MS; grandchildren: Matt Bullock, Katelyn Bullock, Summer James, Booklyn Harris, Clayton Harris, and Addalyn Harris.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents William Van and Mary Bell James, and brother Tommy James.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. The service will begin at 3:00 PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Cobb officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.  Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Bullock, Jason Burt, Jon Burt, Trent Clark, Jackie Griffin, and Michael Swanson.
