Billy Steven Purvis, 73, of the Paris community passed from this life in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at his home. He was welcomed into this world on June 6, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana by his late parents Willard Herman Purvis and Ruth Eldridge Purvis.
Billy faithfully supported and defended Constitution of The United States of America by serving in the United States Navy. After his stent in the armed forces, he settled down and built a life with his bride Florence Elaine Purvis. The couple spent forty-five years together filled with children, grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many priceless memories. Aside from his family life, Billy provided for those he loved not only by driving a truck but also as a mechanic. Of course, he found time to practice his leisure activities such as watching television, camping, and being in the great outdoors. Even though he found joy in many things, his greatest joy could be found spending time with his grandchildren. Most importantly, He worshiped his Lord and Savior at New El Bethel Baptist Church when he was able. Billy will be profoundly missed however he has gone to rest in a sacred place that alleviates the pains of sickness and age.
He leaves behind an expansive family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: loving wife Florence Elaine Purvis; three sons: Billy Steven Purvis of Harmontown, MS, Michael Scott Coats of Murrieta, CA, and Timothy Wayne Purvis of Medina, TN; one daughter Michelle Barbee of Paris, MS; two brothers: David Michael Purvis of Arizona and Timothy Wayne Purvis of Murrieta, CA; one sister Sue Purvis of California; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
