Bobby Blount

Bobby D. Blount, of Bruce, MS a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on March 8, 2025, at the age of 67. Bobby was born on February 11, 1958, in Bruce, Mississippi, where he would go on to create a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories.

Bobby was the husband of  Melissa Tharpe Blount and a proud father to his children: Bobby Blount Jr. of Saltillo, MS, John Blount of Bruce, MS, Samantha Blount of Saltillo, MS, Jennifer Yates of Saltillo, MS, Eulaine (Cain) Petitit of Pontotoc, MS, and Elisha (John) Strevel of Vardaman, MS. He is also survived by his loving mother, Katleen Doss Blount of Bruce, MS, his sister, Doris Wilson of Bruce, MS, and his brother, Mike (Barbara) Blount of Bruce, MS, along with eleven grandchildren and one great granchild. His family was always his greatest joy, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father John Denzil Blount, and his wife Dora Jileene Blount.

A passionate man, Bobby found fulfillment in many pursuits. He took great pleasure in fishing and gardening, always nurturing the land and animals around him. Raising pigs and chickens was not just a hobby but a labor of love for Bobby, while his passion for coin collecting revealed his appreciation for history and craftsmanship.

Bobby’s life was a testament to the simple pleasures and the profound connections that bind us together. He embodied kindness, generosity, and a sincere love for his community.

In honor of his life and legacy, public viewing services will be held on March 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce, MS. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place in the chapel at 2:00 PM. with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander and Bro. James Taylor officiating Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to gather and celebrate Bobby’s life, sharing stories and memories that reflect the warmth and joy he brought to so many.

Bobby will be laid to rest in Collums Cemetery, following the funeral service, Joe Bennett, John Blount, Jerry Brasher, Stevie Hughes, Bill Lott and Sidney Skyles will serve as pallbearers
