Brayden Thornton

August 14, 2007 — May 15, 2021

Listen to Obituary

Brayden Tarrell Thornton, 13, of Bruce completed the race set before him and claimed his prize of eternal life on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his home in Banner. He graced the world with his presence on August 14, 2007, as the eldest of four children born to Shayna Lynn Chrestman.

Brayden, an eighth grader at Bruce High School, could have been described by an abundant amount of adjectives. However, he could perfectly be described by four unmistakable characteristics of: believer, servant, humble, and kind. This gentle giant found joy in a multitude of activities.  With a passion for sports, Brayden was a member of not only the Bruce High School basketball team but also the football team. When he preferred relaxing he could be found playing video games with his friends. Brayden cherished his family; aside from traveling on family vacations he simply enjoyed spending time with his family. Most importantly, he valued going to church. Brayden was actively involved with the youth group at First Baptist Church Bruce. Brayden did not simply depart from this life; he held the cure to death in his soul, an active relationship with his Savior. Although he a has left our presence, Brayden’s kind hearted personality will continue to live on as a warm memory those he leaves behind.

He  leaves behind a loving  family to continue walking down the path of life: mother Shayna Chrestman of Bruce;  sisters: Kayelynn and Adalynn of Bruce; brother Braxton of Bruce; Uncles: D.J. Lyons of Bruce, Ernie Stephens of Tupelo, and Derrick Chrestman of Bruce, aunts: Kim Chrestman of Banner, Natasha Lloyd of Water Valley; Melissa (Stephens) Tedford of Bruce; Stacey (Stephens) Petty of Olive Branch; Rachel Stephens of Bruce; and Nikki Stephens of Bruce; Cousins: Trinity, Aryssa, Emily, Isabella, Lyla, Leta, and Maycen.

Brayden is preceded in death by his grams Pam Chrestman, his grandparents Johnny and Oleta Chrestman, and Uncle Jamey Petty.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. Brayden’s celebration of life will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Bruce with Bro. Ryan Reed, Bro. Whit Casey, and Bro. Will Turner officiating.  Benson Clements, Jackson Gore, Yarnell Marks, Lenny McGreger, Wesley Pomerlee, Jaden Shaw, John Allen Shaw, and Jay Cole Williams will carry Brayden to rest in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

The Staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of Brayden.
