Brenda Joyce Beard

Brenda Joyce Gregg Beard, age 71, of Bruce, Mississippi, passed away on April 22, 2025, in the company of her loved ones. Born on December 22, 1953, in Helena, Arkansas, Brenda was raised in Batesville, Mississippi, where she cultivated a deep love for her family and community.

Having lived in Bruce for over 25 years, Brenda made a lasting impact on those around her. A dedicated professional, she managed Fred's Dollar Store for over 35 years, where her warm smile and unwavering commitment to customer service made her a beloved figure in the community. For the past seven years, she continued to brighten lives as the manager of Los Encinos Mexican Restaurant, where her passion for work was evident in everything she did.

Brenda cherished her time spent reading, immersing herself in the world of books, and creating special memories with her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she found immense joy in supporting her daughter, Melinda Beard Moore of Bruce, MS, and watching her grandchildren — Rebecca (Corey) Whitehorn, Kinley (Hunter) Dodge, Gage Gregg, and Rylee Moore — grow and thrive. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Jacob and Jackson Jenkins, She is also survived by her life companion, Mark Melton of Bruce, MS, brothers, Wayne (Betty Sue) Gregg of Enid, MS, Ronald (Judy) Gregg of Batesville, MS and David Gregg of Water Valley, MS.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Jack Gregg, mother, Ethel Rogers Gregg Fields, and a brother, Kirby Gregg.

Brenda was not only known for her work and devotion to her family but also for her unwavering faith as a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church. Her kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Brenda ask Jesus for salvation at the age of 26. One of her most cherished memories was witnessing her grandson, Gage, defy the odds and take his first steps—a moment doctors once said would never come. To her, he was a walking miracle, and the joy and pride she felt in that moment remained with her always.

Visitation for Brenda will take place at Parker Memorial Funeral Home on April 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on April 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vincient Anderson and Bro. James Taylor officiating. Cory Baldwin, Hunter Dodge, David Gregg, Ronald Gregg, Wayne Gregg, and Ricky Melton will serve as pallbearers with Gage Gregg, Richard Moore, Don Gregg, and The Men of Fath Baptist Church serving as honorary pallbearers. Brenda will be laid to rest in Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce, MS.

In honor of Brenda's life and the love she gave so freely, her family invites all who knew her to join in celebrating her extraordinary journey. May her legacy of love and dedication continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church in her name 158 CR 145 Pittsboro, Ms 38951, which will be sent to support a Mission Organization in South Sudan that she regularly supported.
