Carolyn Veneal Myrick

Carolyn Veneal Spratlin Myrick, 83, of Vardaman passed from this life on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City. She was born on November 14, 1937, in Vardaman to the late Claude Spratlin and Nettie Bell Brown Spratlin.

Carolyn married her late husband Eli John Myrick on January 13, 1978. The couple spent many blessed days together before his passing. She spent many years of her life molding young minds as a ninth-grade history and government teacher in the Gulfport School System. Later in life She owned and operated her own business, selling windows and blinds for homes in the Gulfport area.  Carolyn was the President of the Modenian Society and was a staff member of the BEMC Seer News. She was Baptist by profession of faith and worshiped at First Baptist Church of Vardaman, a place that she learned about the many marvelous wonders of the Lord.

Carolyn leaves behind an expansive family to continue walking down the path of life three stepchildren: Terry (Mark) Tubbs of Gulfport, Mississippi; Jeffery Myrick of Gulfport, Mississippi; Jennifer (John) Burnette of Middleton, Tennessee; three step grandchildren: Joshua Burnette of Middelton, Tennessee; Jared Burnette of Middleton, Tennessee; Christopher Myrick of Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eli John Myrick; parents Claude Spratlin and Nettie Bell Brown Spratlin; three brothers: Jehw Spratlin, William “Bill” Spratlin, and Paul Spratlin; two sisters: Elaine Fleming Bagwell, and Naomi Spratlin Gilder

The graveside service remembering her life will take place on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 1:00 PM in Hillcrest Cemetery.
