Cavan Louis Grist, 19, tragically passed from this life on November 18, 2020, in Waterford, Mississippi. Born on November 30, 2000 in Oxford, Mississippi, Cavan was a son to Nelson Louis Grist and Bethany Shelton

Cavan graduated from Collierville High School in the spring of 2019 where he received the future scholar award. As a young man with great intelligence, Cavan was in the process of obtaining his degree from the University of Tennessee. He was a celebrated member of the American College Testing’s prestigious 30 plus club. While academics played a major role Cavan’s life, so did his motorcycle. He was actively involved in the American Motorcyclist Association and the Man Cup Drag Racing Association. Cavan found joy and success in racing his motorcycle, placing serval thrill seeking wins under his tires in the E.T Category with his father by his side. Cavan attended St. Patrick’s Presbyterian Church where he learned about the wonders of the Lord. Though his young life was cut short, Cavan will be his remembered by his outgoing, respectful personality.

Those left to cherish Cavan's memory include: father, Nelson Louis Grist of Bruce, Mississippi; mother, Bethany Shelton of Collierville, Tennessee; paternal grandmother, Margie Grist  of Saltillo, Mississippi; maternal grandparents: Bud and Burma Shelton of Collierville, Tennessee.

Cavan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Joe Grist.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 12:00PM until 2:00PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering Cavan’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce at 2:00PM with Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Cory Clark officiating.   Brian Bennett, Don McCammon, Chad Otts, Colby Shelton, Slade Shelton, Mat Smith, and Billy Vose will carry Cavan to rest in Sarepta Cemetery.
