Cecil Ray Edwards

Cecil Ray Edwards, a beloved member of his community, departed from this life on September 6, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on June 29, 1942, in Calhoun County, MS,

Cecil dedicated his life to hard work and served as a foreman at Heatcraft for many years. Cecil also served his country by serving as a Master Sergeant in the National Guard for 26 years. Outside of work, Cecil found solace in his faith and was an active member of Concord Baptist Church. Cecil's unwavering commitment to his church and involvement in Calhoun County Baptist Disaster Relief demonstrated his selfless nature and his desire to help those in need. In his spare time, Cecil pursued his passion for the outdoors. Whether tending to his garden, casting a line for fishing, or venturing out on hunting expeditions.

Cecil's memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Gaye Hankins Edwards, of Houston, MS who shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He will also be lovingly remembered by his children, Anita (Jim) Dugard of Vardaman, MS and Robert (Rhonda) Edwards of Houston, MS, his siblings Thomas McCammon, Louise Potts, and Vivian Washington, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren, Krista (Rory Lee) Wells, Kasey (Parker) Ellard, Matt Edwards, and Anna Claire Edwards. Great-grandchildren, Anslle Wells and Cooper Ellard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Edwards and Mabel Fisher Edwards; birth parents: Thomas Richard McCammon and Alma Redwine McCammon; three brothers: William McCammon, Elton McCammon, and Jimmy Luther; sister, Mae Belle Fisk.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 08, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 08, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Chuck Caroll and Bro. Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Chickasaw Memorial Garden: 1337 Hwy 8E, Houston, MS 38851. Jason Brooks, Matt Edwards, Parker Ellard, Ashton Harrell, Jeremy Harrell, Mike James, Michael Luther, Rodney Logan, and Rory Lee Wells will serve as pallbearers. Thomas Dunn, Edmond Hellums, and Gerald McGregor will serve as honorary pallbearers.
