Cela Mitchell Mcgreger

Pittsboro - Cela Mitchell McGreger, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her daughters home in Guntown. She was born September 15, 1926 in Calhoun County to the late parents of Clarion and Lenore Bond Mitchell. She received her education in the Bruce School System and took a Dietary Course from the University of Mississippi. She served as dietitian at Calhoun County Hospital and Bruce Community Living for twenty years until she retired.

She was a active member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she taught the ladies Sunday School class for forty years. She touched many lives by being such a strong worker for our Lord and Savior. She will be remembered for teaching the scriptures and teaching others; by example, to be strong in the face of adversity. Her love for music was expressed by her participation in the Calhoun County Community Choir for the past three years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Nathan McGreger; her husband of seventy years, Clinton McGreger.

Those left to honor her memory; a daughter, Sandra Rogers (Tommy) of Guntown; a son, Mitch McGreger of Pittsboro; three grandchildren, Jamie Sims (Evelyn), Amanda Beckett (Brandon) and Nicholas McGreger (Chelesea); two step grandchildren, Chad Rogers (Dana), Brad Rogers (Meadow); a sister, Myra Sprayberry, Bruce; a niece, Pam Bollinger (Anthony) a nephew, Ricky Russell (Anita); Caregivers, Gina Niblett and Nicole McCracken.

Visitation will be Friday, January 26 ^th at Parker Memorial Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Service will be Saturday, January 27 ^th , at Rocky Mount Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the body will lie in state 1:00 p.m. until the service time. Bro. Kenny Roberson and Bro. Larry Haggard will officiate. Eulogy will be given by Jamie Sims. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are Roy Gregory, J.C. Haire, Jerry McCammon, Nick McGreger, Richard Morgan, Jerry Murphree, Ricky Russell and Jamie Sims.
