Charles Terry

Mr. Charles Morris Terry, 94, of Big Creek traded his sorrow for joy with his family by his side on June 11, 2019 at The State of Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born in Big Creek on August 13, 1924 to the late Robert Terry and Lubie Carter Terry.

Charles served his country as a Rifleman in the 2 ^nd World War; during his time fighting in Central Europe he sacrificed his own wellbeing for the freedom of others. Not only did Charles earn a World Ward ll Victory Medal, but also a Purple Heart. Charles was a farmer by trade and worked diligently cultivating a variety of agricultural delicacies. Upon retirement he spent the rest of his days meticulously looking after his timberland, breaking ground for a garden, and cooking lunch for his family. He gave his lift to Christ and faithfully attended Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind One Son, William Terry (Rheba) of Big Creek, Mississippi; One Daughter, Margie Allen of Big Creek, Mississippi; Eight Grandchildren, Brian Allen, Christopher Nix, Chuck Terry , Jeff Nix , Gretchen Brown, Michelle Ruth, Paul Nix , and Sandra Wilmeth; Thirteen Great Grandchildren ,and Two Great Great Grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Clara Butler Terry; Parents Robert Terry and Lubie Carter Terry; One Daughter, Charlsey Nix; Six Sisters, Jimmie Shenep, Johnnie Stribling, and Kate Webb, Leavy Stone, Margaret Boland Mary Alice Sledge;Two Brothers, Thadeous Terry, and Edward Terry; Two Son In Laws, George Nix ,and Mike Allen.

The family will receive friends on June 12, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. In addition, to the visitation a celebration of Charles’s life will take place on June 13, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Jimmy Vance will lead the celebration with assistance from Bro. Steven Conlee. Following the service,burial will take place with military honors at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Bailey Nix, Brandon Ruth, Bryan Nix, Chipper Nix, Elijah Nix, Jacob Terry, Steven Kelly, and Taylor Terry will help lay Charles to rest;Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles's Great Granddaughters, Anna Terry, Ashlyn Brown, Avery Allen, Maggie brown, and Mollie Ruth.
