Bruce, MS – Clive Harris “Running Bear” Tharpe, 75, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, September 28, 2018. He was born June 19, 1943 in Marvelle, Arkansas to the late parents of Cecil Loring Tharpe and Lucy Idenia Self Tharpe. He was a retired trucker with American Furniture and had previously worked for over 45 years with Washington Furniture as a truck driver Clive was a member of Westside Baptist where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bobbye McCormick, brothers, Carlton Tharpe, Ed Tharpe and William Tharpe.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Jean Brasher Tharpe, whom he married, October 29, 1960; daughters, Melissa Jo (Bobby) Blount, Bruce, Melony (Robert) Tedder, Calhoun City; sister, Sue Cannon, Calhoun City; grandchildren, Elisha (John) Strevel, Bobby Joe (Angie) McCain, Eulaine (Cain) Pettit, Colee (Clarissa) McCain; great grandchildren, Brennen Taylor, Thomas Pearson, Breana Austin Taylor, Marissa Pearson, Eli McCain, Cash McCain and Loew McCain.
Graveside service will be Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Danny Washington and Bro. Freddie Buchanan will be officiating at Collums Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe McCain, Colee McCain, Thomae Pearson, Tony Pearson, Cain Pettit, John Strevel, and Brennen Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Cash McCain, Eli McCain, Loew McCain, Marissa Pearson, Breana Austin Taylor, Jada Washington, Raylon Washington, and Rody Washington.
Funeral services entrusted to Parker Memorial Funeral Homes, with honor serving the Tharpe family.
