Corneil "Nick" Henry Dekker, a cherished father, devoted friend, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 16, 1943, in Gary, Indiana, Corneil spent much of his life nurturing both his family and a deep appreciation for nature, particularly his beloved flowers.

A dedicated member of the United States Army, Nick served his country with honor and distinction, embodying a spirit of service that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, he made his home in Vardaman, Mississippi, where he became a beloved figure in the community, known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Nick leaves behind a legacy of love and support through his five adoring children: Dawn Sullivan, Jody Dekker, Nikki Dekker, Deena Haaran, and Wendi Wright. Each of his children carries with them treasured memories of time spent together, be it in the garden, exploring the outdoors, or simply sharing stories around the dinner table.

A memorial service to honor Nick life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

As we remember Nick, we are grateful for the warmth he brought into our lives and the profound impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing and a source of inspiration for generations to come.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, Richard Dekker, mother, Lucy Dekker, wife, Mavis Renatta Dekker, and a sister, Linda Dekker.
