Darlene Pettit of Banner, MS went to her heavenly home on April 8, 2026, after enduring several months of challenging illnesses and setbacks. Born September 9, 1970 in Pontotoc MS, she was the daughter of James Pettit and Jettie Hill Pettit.
Darlene was salutatorian of The Bruce High School Class of 1988. She also received numerous scholastic honors. Darlene attended Northwest Community College and The University of Mississippi, obtaining her bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
She attended Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Pontotoc,MS.
Darlene enjoyed playing games especially Yahtzee, and visiting family and friends. But her favorite past time was talking on the phone.
Darlene leaves behind her siblings; Barbara Jo (Jimmy)Howell, Calhoun City; Lesia ( Loyd) Mann, Bruce; Johnny (Ginger) Pettit, Pontotoc; best sister-friend Leslie(Craig) Lamar, Calhoun City; special friend Jean Bryant, Calhoun City; 7 nieces, 8 nephews, 5 great nieces, 8 great nephews and numerous friends.
Darlene was proceeded in death by her parents, James Pettit and Jettie Hill Pettit; great nephew, Spencer Smith; maternal grandparents M.D. (Bill) Hill and Ruth Hill Austin; paternal grandparents Dewey(Sam) Pettit and Cecil Shirley Pettit.
Public visitation for Darlene will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Fr. Tim Murphy will preside over Darlene's celebration of life on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Pontotoc.
There will be a private family burial service.
Serving as pallbearers are Nate Dozier, David Hill, Jimmy Howell, Loyd Mann, Adam Smith, Steven Smith, Seth Smith, and Sam Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Art Howard, Jonathan Howell, Justin Howell and Jaron Howell.
