Dennis Everett Cost

Dennis Cost of Austin TX, was born November 13, 1931 in Calhoun County Mississippi. He passed away February 21, 2016 at the age of 84. He is survived by three sisters, Eleanor Warnick of Ellisville MS, Ivy June Estes of Jonesboro AR, Rosa Tyler (Gerald) of Lilburn, GA and 2 brothers, Allen Cost (Jerrie) of Oakland TN and David Cost (Dianne) of Hoover AL. He is also survived by two very special friends, Kevin Feeney and Edward Broussard, both of Austin.
Dennis is predeceased by his parents, Antone Cost and Marie Morgan Cost and his brother, Raymond Lee Cost, all of Bruce MS.
Dennis graduated from Ellard High School, attended Holmes Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1954. After graduation, he entered the Air Force receiving his Pilots Wings and commissioned as an officer in December 1955. In the Vietnam War, Dennis received the Air Medal with several Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star, and Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He also received several other medals and decorations during his Air Force career. Dennis retired 1n 1984 from the Air Force at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After retiring, he made Austin, TX his home. He was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church of Austin as long as health permitted. His hobby was woodworking, especially clock building.
The funeral will be Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, Bruce, Mississippi with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be at Bruce Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday.
