Donald "Jake" Hellums

Donald Roger Hellums “Jake”, 80, passed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Baptist Nursing Home Calhoun City after an extended illness. He was born January 20, 1937 in Lafayette County to the late parents of Henry Grady Hellums and Lillie Roane Clark Hellums.

Jake worked for District two Maintenance department of Calhoun County before retiring. He was loved by his family and friends, always giving a helping hand to those who needed help or just helping his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Gertha Hornsby, Vera Jenkins Angle, Winnie Sykes and Daisy Harris, three brothers, Clayton Hellums, Dwight Hellums and Walter Hellums.

He is survived by a brother, James Hellums, Birmingham, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery with Bro. Lannis May officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Goodwin, Sherman Higginbottom, John Allen Leachman, Ed Moorhead, Edmond Hellums, Larry Hellums, Scott Hellums and Harold Ward.
Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Cemetery fund or Shady Grove Methodist Church.
