Dorthia Cook Baker

Dorthia Cook Baker, 86, passed this earthly life on March 14, 2021, at Bruce Community Living Center after a long illness.

She was born May 23, 1934, in Bruce to the late Jessie L. Cook and Lucy Stark Cook. Dorthia was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.  She worked at Glenn Slacks Garment Company, Brookwood Furniture Company, and United Chair.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Annette (Phil) Adams, Andalusia, AL; sons Lee (Irene) Baker, Tupelo, MS; and Craig (Autumn) Baker, Pittsboro, MS; brothers: Walter Roy Cook, Destin, FL, and Bobby “BJ” Cook, Hilton Head, SC; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Lucy Cook; husband Bobby Baker; sister Bennie Faye Morris Judon; and brother Gordon Cook.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce.  A funeral service honoring Dorthia’s life will be Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander and Bro. David Haggerty officiating in the service.  Burial will follow in Bruce Cemetery.
