Earl Wayne Armstrong, 83, of Calhoun City departed from this life on Sunday, September 04, 2022, at Baptist- Calhoun Nursing Home, in Calhoun City, MS. He was born on March 01, 1939, in Bruce, MS to the late Aurbon Austin Armstrong and Dalene Sprayberry Armstrong.

Earl grew up on a farm in the Oldtown community, learning the value of hard work and a simple life. He eventually married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Carolyn Turner, and after a brief stint in the Air Force, spent the remainder of his working years as a sewing machine mechanic, first with Kellwood Company, and then with Calhoun Apparel. Earl was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Slate Springs, MS. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.

Earl is survived by two sisters: Carolyn (Eddie) Johnson of Collierville, TN; Gail Massey of Oxford, MS; two sons: Rev. Kenneth (Lisa) Armstrong of Calhoun City, MS; Gerry Armstrong of Gore Springs, MS; three grandchildren: Brannon (Laken) Armstrong of Mathiston; Kasey Armstrong of Calhoun City; Hayden Armstrong of Gore Springs; three great-grandchildren: Cooper and Abbye Armstrong of Mathiston; Austin Cole Armstrong of Calhoun City; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Auborn and Dalene; the love of his life, Nancy Carolyn Turner Armstrong; a second wife, Annie Armstrong; grandson, Austin Lee Armstrong; and a great-grandson, Joshua Armstrong.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 06, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday, September 06, 2022, at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Ryan Reed and Bro. Joey Faulk officiating. Brannon Armstrong, Gerry Armstrong, Hayden Armstrong, Kenneth Armstrong, Stephen Johnson, and William Lee Rodgers will carry Earl to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Don Baggett, Rowland Duke, Eddie Johnson, Dean Massey, and Ricky Turner will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Armstrong family as they walk through this season of loss. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the passing of their loved one.
