Edna Ruth Barton, 85 of Metairie, La. passed on January 12, 2015.
She was born on April 27, 1929 in Calhoun City, MS. She was the wife of the late Ernest Edwain Barton, passed on December 13, 2012.
A homemaker, graduate of Mississippi State University and School Teacher, for thirty years, in Mississippi and Louisiana. Sunday School teacher thirty plus years, active member at First Baptist Kenner, in Kenner, La. Where she helped established a prayer ministry, and had her own personal ministry in visiting folk ill in their home or in the hospital. She was a gentle spirit, but yet a warrior for her faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Hugh B. Shippey and Edna Vanlandingham Shippey. Siblings, Paul Shippey, Mavis Shippey Bowman, and Faye Shippey Wright.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra Lizenby and Sheila Davy, son Ernie Barton, Grandchildren, Rylee and Regan Davy, Hannah, Jydney and Maxton Barton, Sarah Winking, Bart and Jonathan Lizenby. Seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 11 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Oak Springs Cemetery, in Derma, MS. Burial will follow in Oak Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Barton, Allan Davy and Troy Lizenby.
