Elizabeth Hardin Mitchell

Elizabeth Hardin Mitchell, 79, of Vardaman, MS, passed away on May 2, 2023, surrounded by both her beloved daughters and son-in-law.

Elizabeth was born in Derma, MS, on October 13, 1943. She married the love of her life, Mike Mitchell, on July 29, 1961, and together they raised two loving daughters. She worked at Vardaman Elementary School as Secretary, Inmon Grocery Store as Store Clerk, and Mississippi Department of Human Services as Child Support Fiscal Officer. She enjoyed being of service to others, shopping trips to Memphis, fellow shipping with church family and friends, and laughing with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom she was most proud of.

Elizabeth was a powerhouse of a woman whose heart was just as kind as it was driven. Her sense of humor was second to none, and even alzheimer's could not suppress it. She will be missed and remembered by the many friends, relatives and family whose lives she touched. Her husband, Mike Mitchell (Papaw, who preceded her heavenly journey in 2019) has been awaiting her arrival in Heaven. Together, she and Mike were epitome of Christian love throughout their lifetimes not only in words, but also actions as they opened their home, hearts, and family to nephews, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren who became family, nonetheless. Although she will be greatly missed, her beloveds are happy that her spirit is unencumbered by the physical limitations that she suffered in recent years. We can't wait to see you again, Mom, Mama, Mamaw, Aunt Bibby!

Elizabeth is survived by her brothers: John Hardin (Reva), and James Hardin (Carol), her daughters, Amy Chrestman (Kim), Hope Mitchell (Tammy), Her special nephew, Jody Roberts (Glenda), her beloved grandchildren Elizabeth Chrestman, and Anna Creekmore (Josh), her great-nephew, Jared Roberts (Emily), her precious great grandchild, Dempsey, her double great nephew, Ezra, and a host of other relatives and assorted family, and many caring friends.

She is preceded in death by her true love, Mike Mitchell (husband of 58 years), Vernie Hardin (mother), Early B. Hardin (father), Marie Wade (sister), Wayne Hardin (brother), Tom Hardin (brother), and Frances Hardin (sister).

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5th, 2023, at Midway Baptist Church (20 CR 453, Vardaman, MS 38878) from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service honoring Elizabeth's life will take place on Friday, May 5th, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Jared Roberts officiating this lovely service. Pallbearers will be Keith Haire, Scott Hardin, Ethan Parker, Ethan Walls, Brady White, and Keeper White.
