Ella Mae Smith

Bruce, MS – Ella Mae Smith, 95, passed this earthly life Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Baptist Calhoun Hospital surrounded by her love ones. She was born June 18, 1923 in Calhoun County, to the late parents of Clarence A. Gregory and Mary Jane Logan Gregory. She was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, a devoted homemaker and gardener. One of her greatest joys was traveling to the mountains and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph C. Smith, daughter, Laura Jane Smith Coleman, sons, Jerry R. Smith, and Curtis Dean Smith, sister, Carlene Gregory, Brother, Carlos Gregory, grandson Keith Martin and a great grandson, Chance Alford.

Survivors are daughters, Evelyn Smith Martin, Pittsboro, Rita Smith Foster, Banner; sister, Vernice Gregory Tutor, Pittsboro; grandchildren, Steve Byars, Mike Byars, Tony Hubbard, Karen Martin, Tammy Hubbard, Tina Foster, Terri Hubbard, Kraig Smith. Chris Smith, Mistie Reese; and Ten great grandchildren.

A funeral honoring Ella Mae Smith‘s life will be Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with burial to follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery. Bro. James Taylor will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike Byars, Steve Byars, James Gregory, Tony Hubbard, Chris Smith and Kraig Smith.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
