Elmo Chrestman

Elmo Chrestman, 89, of Bruce passed from this life on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford, Mississippi. Born on July 14, 1932, in Calhoun County, he was a son to the late Dewel C. Chrestman and Willie Young Chrestman.

Elmo enlisted in the United States Air Force which led him on a journey through the Korean War faithfully serving his country. Upon returning from the war, he joined his family in the agriculture business, farming cattle and row crops. Aside from working cattle and driving tractors, Elmo not only worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company for several years, but he was also a carpenter. When he didn’t have his nose to the grindstone you could find him tending to his garden or in pursuit of squirrels hoping for a good day hunting. Although he has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness, Elmo will be profoundly missed by his loving friends.

He leaves behind a close circle of friends and family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: one sister Shirley Sue Pulley of Millington, Tennessee; special caregiver and friend Jerry (Regina) Brasher of Houlka, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Elmo was preceded in death by his parents Dewel C. Chrestman and Willie Young Chrestman, one brother Leodis Chrestman, and three sisters Geneva Hynes, Willie Marcelle Chrestman and Carolyn Pirtle.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce with Bro. Greg Bray officiating. Jerry Brasher, Nathan Brasher, Robert Lee Brasher, Michael Pirtle, Phil Potts, Ken Pulley, and Hunter Sanders will carry him to rest in Bruce Cemetery.
