Elouise Laffayette, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 95 at Baptist Memorial Nursing Home in Calhoun City, MS. Born on January 6, 1931, in the Punkin Center Community, MS, Elouise lived a life rich in love, faith, and family.
She was known for her deep faith, often found reading her Bible and gleaning strength and guidance from its pages. Elouise's nurturing spirit extended to her beloved gardens, where she found solace among the flowers she tenderly tended throughout her life.
Elouise is survived by her daughter, Gail Lafayette of Bruce, MS; her brothers, John Ell McCormick of Bruce, MS and Kenneth McCormick of Bruce, MS; and her adoring grandchildren, Kasey and Kalem Lafayette both of Bruce, MS. Each of them will carry forward her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Elouise was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Lafayette, her husband, Tommy Laffayette, her father, Isom McCormick, her mother, Ruthie Ferguson McCormick, two brothers, Eugene McCormick, and Freddie McCormick.
A graveside service will be held in her honor at Rocky Mount Cemetery on September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Family and friends are invited to join together in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose kindness and love touched the lives of many. Elouise Laffayette will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
