Emily Annette Newman

Emily Annette Newman, Age 71, succumbed to injuries sustained in a one car accident in Calhoun County,  on Tuesday, December 17, 2024..

Emily was born to Lee Arthur Newman and Helen Davis Newman on February 15, 1953. She graduated from Greenville High School, Clarke College, and Union University. After being in education and retiring, she attended Delta State University Robert Smith School of Nursing and earned her BSN in nursing. She later earned her MSN in nursing from Liberty University which enabled her to work as a nursing instructor at Delta State. She sincerely loved teaching in all aspects, and she also loved all her nieces and nephews just like they were her grandchildren.

Emily was predeceased by her parents and survived by her brother Lee (Paula) Newman of Bruce, her sister Delores Newman (J.D.) Darnell of Glen Allan, MS, her niece Casey (Steve) Megow of Nashville, TN, and nephews, Lee (Melissa) Newman, III, of Brandon, MS, Will (Christina) Tolliver of  Florence, Alabama,  Jason (Diana) Tolliver of New Orleans, LA, John (Emily) Darnell, III. Of Tupelo, MS, Davis (Emily) Darnell of Glen Allan, MS, She also leaves behind great nephews Grayson Newman, Lucas and Jacob Megow, Grant Tolliver, Devin Tolliver, Brixton Tolliver, Chandler Tolliver, and John Davis Darnell. As well as great nieces Harper Newman, Samantha Darnell, Juliette Darnell, Emma Darnell, and Kate Darnell, and Lyra Tolliver, Farrah Tolliver.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM with the funeral following at 1:00 PM in Turkey Creek Baptist Church with John Darnell, III. officiating. Burial will follow in Turkey Creek Cemetery. Davis Darnell, John Darnell, III, Curtis Davis, Steve Megow, Lee Newman, III., and  Craig McCormick will serve as pallbearers with John Brower, Robert Melton, and Jason Tolliver serving as honorary pallbearers.
