Emogene Bailey, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away quietly on December 26, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on June 1, 1945, in Delay, Mississippi, and spent her life making a profound impact on those who knew her. Emogene resided in Bruce, Mississippi, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family.

A proud graduate of Lafayette County Schools, Emogene was not only an accomplished seamstress in the furniture industry, spending many years with American Furniture Manufacturing, but she was also an avid basketball player in her youth. Her love for life extended beyond her work; Emogene had a passion for movies and was often found sharing her knowledge of actors and their roles with family and friends, delighting in the storytelling of the silver screen.

Emogene is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy Goodson (Thomas Earl) of Bruce, MS, and her son, James Bailey (Cori) of Winona, MS. She cherished her grandchildren—Brittany Denton, Erica Lester, Tristan Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Aubrey Bailey, Miles Bailey, Brittney Senter, T.J. Vanlandingham, and Howard Goodson—as well as her twelve great-grandchildren. Each of them held a special place in her heart.

Emogene was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she found community and fellowship, reflecting her faith and commitment to those around her.

A graveside service honoring her life will be held on January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Bro. Kevin Chrestman officiating.

In this time of mourning, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Emogene Bailey—a woman who loved deeply, laughed often, and left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Emogene was preceded in death by her father, James "Bilbo" Sheperd, mother, Beatrice Sheperd, son, Tim "Sausage" Bailey, sister, Frankie West, and a  brother, Van Sheperd.

The Staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bailey family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
