Erma "Faye" Ward Alford, 78, of El Reno, OK, died September 13, 2022. She was born April 4, 1944, in Bruce, MS. She was the seventh child of Lonnie and Omie Aston Ward of Bruce.
Faye attended Memphis Technical College earning her realtor and broker's license. She enjoyed selling homes and received many awards including "Top Saleswoman of the Year". She also owned a beauty shop. "Faye's Happy Hair", in Millington, TN, where she made a life for herself and her three children. Faye was well known in the community and became Vice-President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the local VEW. She worked very hard to raise three children on her own. They were part of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; Faye was also a Girl Scout Leader. They played sports with the Shelby County Youth League and loved school. Faye, a woman of faith, was a member of Thorn Church of God where she served in many aspects and made many friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Curtis Alford; brothers: OT Ward of Grenada, Leon (Ann) Ward of Bartlett, TN, Dean Ward of Grenada, and James Lonnie (Pauline) Ward of Bulverde, Texas; sisters Levy Mae (C.L.) Naron of Vardaman and Vida Mae (Selby) Weir of Bruce; and one step-granddaughter Lindsay Dianne Reed.
She is survived by one brother Johnny (Kay) Ward of Grenada; three children: Rhonda Kaye (Arthur) Bailey of Yukon, OK; Melissa Dawn (James) Carisen of Millington, TN; and Michael Kevin (Patricia, deceased) Norwood of Houston; two step-daughters Lesa Alford and Paula Reed, both of Houston; grandchildren: Amie (John) Carter, John (Lyndsey) Dunn, Clay (Amanda) Clark, Ashley Clark, Craig Norwood, and Alanna Norwood; six step-grandchildren: Hannah Edwards, Chantal Medina, Alexandria Cochajil, Blake Reed, Josh Reed, and Megan Reed; and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Joey Grist, Charles Naron, John Dunn, Craig Norwood, Darius Edwards, and Samuel Atkinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Arthur Bailey and Johnny Ward.
Services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, with burial immediately following in Memory Memorial Garden at 2:00 PM.
