Etta Fay Collins

Etta Fay Collins, 84, of Bruce passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2022, at her daughter's home in Coffeeville, MS. She was born June 08, 1937, in Hattiesburg, MS to the late Nulan Shelby Murphy and Mary Etta Grantham.

Etta spent her days as a homemaker that devoted her time to looking after the needs of her family. In her spare time Etta could be found at the television watching John Wayne or the NASCAR Races. She could also be found with some thread in her hands crocheting. She was an active and faithful member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church. Although she has departed from our presence, Etta’s memory will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Juanita (Ronnie) Folks, of Ellisville and Deloris (Kenneth) Kellum, of Coffeeville; four sons: Johnny (Alice) Collins, of Slate Springs, Ray (Mary) Collins, of Yelleville, AR, Shelby (Gwen) Collins, of Bruce, and Athen (Connie) Collins, of Calhoun City; four sisters: Jeanie Clingan, Wanda Page, Shirley Stuart, and Georgie Ann Evans, all of Hattiesburg. Two brothers: Clarence Murphy, of Petal, MS, and Charlie Murphy, of Richton, MS; and sixty-seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Etta is preceded in death by her parents Nulan Shelby Murphy and Mary Etta Grantham; husband J.W. Collins; two sons: Robert Earl Collins and Gerald Wayne Collins; daughter Loretta Ann Pettit; granddaughter Shelly Marie White; great grandson Andrew Lester; step granddaughter Teresa Folks; nine sisters: Ava Steele, Willa Bounds, Lois Kelly, Oleane Kelly, Clois Kelly, Latrell Murphy, Willa Bee Murphy, Louise Cromwell, and Bytha Cooper; five brothers: Charlie Murphy, Sidney Murphy, Robert Murphy, Tommy Murphy, Tommy Murphy, Louis Grantham.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service celebrating Etta’s life will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. David Haggerty and Bro. Johnny Halderman officiating. Athen Collins, James Collins, Shelby Collins Jr., Jonathan Stricklin, Chris White, and Ricky Vanlandingham will carry Mrs. Etta to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Mrs. Etta Fay's grandsons will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
