Evelyn Joan Easley, 90, of Bruce, MS. passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford, MS. Born into a world that she would later fill with love and kindness, Evelyn lived a life marked by her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.
Joan is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Spratlin of Murfreesboro, TN, and Marta Michelle Tunnell of Pittsboro, MS, her cherished grandchildren John (Tess) Spratlin, Lauren (Robbie) Spratlin, and Jace Tunnell, and her dear sister, Linda (Asa) Barley. Each of them will hold her memory close to their hearts, carrying forward the values she instilled in them.
Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Bruce Wayne Murphree, Wade Easley Jr, and Layborn L. Poynor, a sister, Oleta Chrestman, a brother, Jerry Steve Brown, and her parents Ledford Brown, and Joyce Caldwell Brown.
Before her retirement, Evelyn devoted her talents and time to meaningful work at Moss Sundries, Glenn Slacks, Brookwood, and United Chair. She was known for her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. In her personal life, Evelyn found joy in gardening, sewing, and bird watching, pursuits that reflected her deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the art of creation. She was also a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church
Visitation will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, which will take place on February 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Will Turner and Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Joan will then be laid to rest at Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Chad Clark, Elvis Wade Hillhouse, Casey Prestage, Brian Roberts, Keith Snellings, Caden Tunnell, Curt Tunnell, and Nick Tunnell will be serving as pallbearers, Michael Cook and Allen Prestage will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
In this time of mourning, we remember Evelyn Joan Easley as a nurturing force whose love and laughter enriched the lives of everyone around her. Though she will be greatly missed, her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
