Fannie Lou Tapley, 91, of Pittsboro passed from this life on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at her residence. Born on August 15, 1930 in Calhoun County, she was a daughter to the late John Jolly Pettit and Carrie Lee Moore Pettit.
Fannie spent many seasons of her life not only working as a seamstress for Glenn Slacks but also as a cook for Junior Food Mart. When she wasn’t busy Hemming and stitching she kept her hands busy canning vegetables, especially peas. However, when she preferred a more leisure activity she flipped on the television in search of a good program to get wrapped up in. Above all of her hobbies and interest she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fannie was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Baptist church before transitioning into the fold of Pittsboro Baptist Church. Though she has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness and pains of age, Fannie will be profoundly missed by her loving family.
Fannie leaves behind an expansive family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; two sons: Ottis Wayne Tapley of Pittsboro; Gary Dean Tapley of Pittsboro; one daughter, Amy Lou McInnis (Bo Gregory) of Vardaman; six grandchildren: Kenny Mcinnnis, Regina Mcinnis, Jerry Tapley, Jessica Goforth, Jennifer (Matt) Black, and Tina Baldwin; fifteen great- grandchildren; elven great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis Jackson Tapley; parents, John Jolly Pettit and Carrie Lee Moore Pettit; two brothers: Dennis Ray Pettit and Levi Pettit.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:00-1:30 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The graveside service honoring Fannie's life will take place on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Bro. Pete Gregory officiating. Matthew Black, Dalton Goforth, Austin Jordan, Michael Oliver, Billy Dee Tapley, Jonathan Tapley, Shawn Tapley, and Travis Tapley will serve as pallbearers.
