Florence Elaine Purvis, 68, of Paris, MS. born on January 17, 1958, in Port Norris, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in her home in Paris, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Florence was a devoted homemaker whose life's work was characterized by her unwavering love for her family, her deep faith, and her selfless service to others.Florence is survived by her cherished siblings: Betty June Coker, Marion (Arthur) Mead, Carol Hunt (Chuck Stuart), Edward Whitesell, Donald Hunt, Stephen Hunt, Betty (Hector) Lopez, and Pat Tozer. She was a beloved mother to her children: Michelle (Robert) Barbee, of Oxford, MS Billy Steven (Sheila) Purvis of Harmontown, MS., Michael Scott Coats of California, and Timothy (Stacey) Purvis of Medina, TN. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ben (Kara) Barbee, Bailey Purvis, Shelby (Josh) Jones, Timothy "Austin" (Shelby) Purvis, Lane (Gracie) Palmer, Renae Purvis, Lynde Purvis, Luke Palmer, and Makenzie Purvis, and her Eleven and counting great great-grandchildren. all of whom she adored and delighted in spoiling.Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Billy Steven Purvis, Sr, father: Harold Hunt, mother, Betty June Miller Hunt Whitesell, brothers, Thomas Miller, David Hunt, Armond Hunt, Raymond Hunt, Ronald Hunt, Billy Purvis Sr., stepfather, Lawrence Whitesell.Florence dedicated much of her time volunteering at her church, where she served in the children's ministry with joy and passion. Her kindness knew no bounds; each child at the church received a Christmas present from her, reflecting her boundless love for the young ones in her community. Her compassion extended to anyone in need, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.A public viewing for Florence Elaine Purvis will be held on June 14, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the New El Bethel Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM with Bro. Bobby Snow officiating. A burial will take place at New El Bethel Cemetery. Ben Barbee, Lane Barbee, Mike Barbee, Josh Jones, Devan McCall, Lane Palmer, Luke Palmer, Austin Purvis, and Patrick Warren will be serving as pallbearers.Florence's light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will endure through the love she cultivated and the lives she touched.
