Fredrick G. Hawkins, a beloved member of the Bruce, Mississippi community, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on February 23, 1929, he dedicated his life to hard work and family, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Fred was a proud dairy farmer whose commitment to agriculture shaped not only his life but also the lives of those around him. He found joy in the rhythms of farm life, relishing the simple pleasures of attending cattle sales and nurturing his garden. His hands, weathered by years of labor on the farm, also held a deep love for his family.
A faithful member of the Primitive Baptist faith, Fred lived a life rooted in values of community and compassion. He inspired many with his unwavering faith and gentle spirit, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand.
Fred is survived by his loving family, including grandchildren Justin (Laykin) Hawkins of Bruce, MS, Jina (Brad) Gunter of Bruce, MS, and Amy (Patrick) Bacon of Bella Vista, AR, along with a daughter-in-law, Janice Hawkins of Bruce, MS. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Mattie Hawkins, Sammie Gunter, Jessie Hawkins, Russ Gunter, and Harper Hawkins, each of whom carries forward his memory and love.
A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce on April 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2;00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Tony Lester officiating. He will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery with Bill Cook, Michael Cook, John David Embry, Brad Gunter, Greg Melvin, and Matthew Pryor serving as pallbearers. Jimmy "Jello" Chrestman, Ricky Gregory, Steve Minor, Will Minor, Noel Snellings, and John Walton will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
In this time of sorrow, may we remember Fred Hawkins for his unwavering spirit, dedication to family, and the legacy of love he imparted to all who knew him.
