Gary Paul Howell passed away at Saint Frances Hospital in Memphis, TN on February 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 28, 1938, in Clarington, OH, Gary lived a life dedicated to his family, his country, and his passions.

Gary proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy. His 20 years of service were marked by a deep commitment to his country and a profound love for the Navy, shaping his character and instilling in him a sense of duty that he carried throughout his life.

After his military service, Gary worked as a construction worker and truck driver, notably with Hot Shot Delivery Service, where his hard work and dedication earned him the respect of many. Gary was a member of Shepard's Chapel Church. He was also an active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and had a passion for riding motorcycles. He cherished his pet dog Hoodlum and was a steadfast supporter of the Dog Lovers League in Bruce, MS, reflecting his love for animals.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Howell, his daughters Becky Stone of Vardaman, MS and Dana (Brett) Hamilton of Calhoun City, MS, his son Doug (Tammy) Howell of Cross, SC, his sister Shelly Howell of FL, his brother Bobby (Linda) May of Salem, OH, and his cherished grandchildren: Gary Wayne Howell, Kayla (Brian) Penick, Kimberly Howell, Roger Stone Jr., Allen Stone, Jessica (Phillip) Watts, and Haylon (Clarie) Hamilton. Along with his 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will take place at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman, MS from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on February 28, 2026, allowing loved ones to pay their respects. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman, MS with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander and Bro. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Gary will be laid to rest at New Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun City, MS following the services.

Serving as pallbearers are Paul Criddle, Keith Haire, Brett Hamilton, Haylon Hamilton, Gary Wayne Howell, Allen Stone, Damien Vanhorn, and Caleb Watts. Honorary pallbearers are Mack Anderson, Jerry Haire, Brian May, Tony Moss, and Allen West.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edward Howell, mother Hazel Gertrude Oneacre, sister Betty Kay Pavalina, and son-in-law Roger Stone.
