Etna Geneva Dye Thames, 86, passed away on October 18, 2024, at Fernbrooke Personal Care Home in Houston, MS. Geneva was born on December 27, 1937, to the late Edgar Allen (E. A.) Dye and Lois House Dye.

She spent many years working at Floy Dyer Manor in Houston, MS ultimately serving as Director of Nursing before her retirement.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vardaman. Geneva was a graduate of Mississippi College School of Nursing allowing her to minister to the health care needs to many patients through the years and to set a porfessional example for others to follow.She loved sewing and especially smocking littrle girls dresses to make them look like God's little angels.She loved spending time with the family and setting around the dinner table listening to her family and hearing their stories and the things that was going on in their lives. She loved the little ones to come in to see what she had made for them. The light in their eyes and smiles brought her much joy and happiness.

Geneva married the love of her life Charles on February 15, 1957 spending 67 years together.

She is survived by her husband Charles Thames of Vardaman; daughters Cindy (Frank) Hiland of Amory, MS, and Charlsie (Ricky) Sparks, of Vardaman, MS; son Kirby Thames of Vardaman; sister Juanita Higgs of Jackson, TN; grandchildren Morgan (Will) Turner, Cody (Kellie) Sparks, Josh Hiland, and Lauren Anderson; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Geneva is preceded in death by her parents E. A. and Lois Dye.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman will Bro. Will Turner officiating.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with Bubba Freely, Sam McGregor, Walker Nichols, Cody Sparks, Tatum Turner, and Steve White serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Hiland.

Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thames family as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
