Gerald Wayne McGreger, 86, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS, after an extended illness.  He was born August 2, 1938, in the Rocky Mount Community located in Calhoun County to the late parents Hubert Oris McGreger and Lorene Hayes McGreger.

Gerald was a retired employee of Columbia Gulf Gas and Transmission Company where he worked in maintenance as an electrician and many other various jobs and task.  After retirement he started McGreger Gravel and Sand Company hauling gravel and sand to job and construction sites.  He served in the Mississippi National Guard for over 6 years during the Berlin Crisis.  Gerald was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he was saved as a youth and attended church.

Gerald had from a early age in life a good, hard work ethic and understood the value of hard work and success. He was willing to help anyone that needed help and a compassion for those that needed help and a word of encouragement.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Oris McGreger and Lorene Hayes McGreger; his devoted wife Mary Alice Wade McGreger; and brother Jerry Boyce McGregor.

Those left to cherish Gerald's memory are his sister Nancy (Jim) Pernell, Pontotoc, MS; brother Tommy (Sonnie) McGregor, Pittsboro, MS; sister-in-law Gloria McGregor, Oxford, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. A service honoring Gerald's life will also be Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Logan and Bro. Paul Lowe officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Memorial Garden.  Those serving as pallbearers are Danny Armstrong, David Bramlitt, John Ellard, Steve Ferguson, Jeremy Harris, Ronald Jenkins, Mike King, John "Quincy" Parker, Byron Talford, Troy Todd, Tracy Turner, and Barry Vanlandingham.

Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to be of service to the McGreger family during this time of loss.
