Henry Lee Taylor, 85,  of  Vardaman passed from this life on July 7, 2021 at his home in Vardaman. He made his debut into this world on June 14, 1936 as son of the late Lee Ander Taylor and Vera Nell Jones Taylor.

Henry Lee was a graduate of Big Creek and was known for his skills on the basketball court. After high school he settled down and started a family with his loving wife Linda Ashby Taylor. The couple spent many decades in marital bliss before his passing.  He joined the Army National Guard in an effort to protect the freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of his fellow Americans.   Henry Lee spent many seasons of his life not only as sweet potato farmer but also as an employee of AT& T. However, he retired after a lifetime of working to practice his expansive list of hobbies fulltime. Covered in Cougar Green, He dedicated countless hours of his time to Calhoun Academy where was also a charter member of the Green Apron Cooking Team. When he wasn’t stationed behind a grill, he could be found casting a line in hopes of a good day fishing or hunting a variety of wildlife when the season was right. Above all of his hobbies, Henry Lee cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.  He attended and was an active member of  Midway Baptist Church where he learned about the many wonders of the Lord.

Those left behind to carry the memory of Henry Lee in their hearts include: his loving wife, Linda Ashby Taylor of Vardaman; one son, Derreck (Brandie) Taylor of Big Creek; one daughter, Lisa Taylor Blue of Vardaman; two brothers: Jamie Taylor of Big Creek; Larry Taylor of Big Creek; five sisters: Norma Henry of Corryton, Tennessee; Carolyn Hardwick of Senatobia, Mississippi; Gaye (Clarence) Hood North Carolina; Gloria Barton of Denim Springs, Louisiana; Kathy (Frank) Anderson of Big Creek, Mississippi; six grandchildren: Taylor Blue of Vardaman; Preston Blue of Vardaman; Baylous ( Courtney) Blue of Bruce; Dowden Taylor of Big Creek; Sawyer Taylor of Big Creek: Talon Taylor of Big Creek; one great grandchild, Ella James Blue of Bruce and one additional great grandson son on the way.

He was preceded in death by his  parents, Lee Ander Taylor and Vera Nell Jones Taylor; three brother-in- laws: Zack Henry, Milton Hardwick, and Roy Barton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman. The funeral service remembering Henry Lee’s life will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman with Dr. Clarence Cooper and Bro. Al Gaspard officiating.  Tim Beckett, Baylous Blue, Preston Blue, Charley Davis, Mike Jones, Bobby Lovelace, Dowden Taylor, Keith Taylor, and Rusty Taylor will carry Henry Lee to rest in Shiloh Cemetery. Lynn Allen Casey, Fuzzy Clark, Dwight Fleming, Josh Hamilton,  Richmond Hubbard, Sidney Parker, Bobby Whitt & Sunday School Class, RayburnWilburn, Francis Williams, and Larry Winter will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
