Howard Milton Lofton, 84, passed away October 30, 2019 at N.M.M.C. in Tupelo, MS. He was born June 23, 1935 in Blue Mountain, MS to the late parents of John Franklin Lofton and Lois Vera Aldridge Lofton. He was a graduate of Calhoun City High School Class of 1954. He married Clara Sue Brasher on September 26, 1956, prior to joining the U.S. Air Force in October of the same year. He retired from the Air Force in September 1976 and returned to Houlka to help his wife care for his aging mother-in-law, Donnie Mae Tutor Brasher. He began working at Franklin Manufacturing in Houston until retirement in 2000. He later cared for his ailing wife until her death in 2016.
He is survived by son, Ronnie Lofton of New Caney, TX; daughter, Susan Lofton Chaney and Doug, Saltillo; Tina Lofton Skyles, Teresa Lofton Akins and John Paul and Sally Lofton West all of Houlka and a special daughter, Nancy Pruitt.
Cherishing his memory are grandchildren, Jennifer Yates, Joshua Skyles and Rita; Mitchell Akins and Nina; Jon David Blount and Dana; Courtney Campbell and Jake; Colby Hamilton and Teresa; Cailtin Burcham and Bryan. Great grandchildren Austin Yates, Cole Pinkley, Braylen Kane Parker, Bentlee Paige Campbell, Jayden MaKenzie Blount, Allie Burcham, Caroline Burcham, Annalise Campbell, Aspen Burcham and Haden Garrett Skyles. Another great grandchild is due in spring 2020.
Further survived by sisters-in-law Loree Rice, Doris Lofton and Virginia Lofton.
In addition to the love of his life and his parents he was preceded in death by son-in-law Jonathan West and grandson, John Paul Yates. Also by brothers J.W. Rice, Harvey Willard Lofton, Robert A. Lofton, Charles Eugene Lofton, John Ellis Lofton and Jerald Q. Lofton and step brothers Edwin Lofton, Alonzo Lofton, Fred Lofton, Frank Lofton and step sisters, Carmon Lofton Spencer, Elizabeth Lofton Hall, Faye Lofton Lozowski and Frances Lofton Richardson.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, Bro. Kevin Chrestman and Bro. Bobby Douglas will be officiating in the service. Burial will follow at Collums Cemetery of Houlka.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Skyles, Mitchell Akins, Jon David Blount. Colby Hamilton, Jake Campbell, Bryan Burcham, Austin Yates and Braylen Parker.
