Irene Jones, 85, of Calhoun City departed from this life on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City, MS. She was born on May 31, 1937 to the late William Samuel Stark and Cora Melton Stark.
Irene worked at Kellwood garment factory until her retirement. She then spent her days as a homemaker that devoted her time to looking after the needs of her family. In her spare time Irene could be found at the television watching her soap operas. Irene was a member of Skuna Valley Baptist Church. Although she has departed from our presence, Irene’s memory will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Earl Jones, of Calhoun City; three daughters: Kathy (Rick) Hocanson of Nesbit, MS; Debbie Lunceford of Calhoun City, MS; Johnna (Scott) Rogers of Grenada, MS; son, John Paul (Teresa) Akins of Houlka, MS; stepdaughter, Debby Campbell of Calhoun City; stepson, Mike (Sandra) Jones of Vardaman; eleven grandchildren: Stacy Chance (Mike) Davis, Misty (Brian) Chance, Wendy Ellison (Casey) Rowland, Blake Lunceford, Stevi Weeks, Evan (Kerissa) Weeks, Mitchell (Nina) Akins, Jacob (Lindsey) James, Lyndsey (Chad) Cregar, Michael (Jenna) Jones, and Lexi Rogers 17 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two brothers: Cecil (Bessie) Stark of Smithville, MS; Charles Stark of Water Valley, MS.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William Samuel Stark and Cora Melton Stark; sister, Faye Arbuckle; granddaughter, Kaley Rogers; grandson, Josh James.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service honoring Irene's life will be on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jamie Stark officiating. Rick Hocanson, Michael Jones, Mike Jones, Blake Lunceford, Scott Rogers, and Evan Weeks will carry Irene to rest in Crossroads cemetery.
