James Collums

Farmington-James Albert Collums, 86 passed this earthly life on Monday, October 2, 2017. He was born Wednesday, September 9, 1931 in Sarepta, MS to the late parents Elton and Myrle Powell Collums. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband.  James was a member of Tate Street Baptist Church. He served The Lord by pastoring and serving others at Banner Baptist Church, Calhoun City Second “Grace” Baptist, Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. along with many other churches in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.  He was a retired payroll clerk for the Tennessee Valley Authority.  James loved working in the garden, running his tiller, watching western movies, genealogy and using the computer. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harrison Collums, and a sister, Dorothy Collums.

Survivors are his wife Mary Nell McClean Collums of Farmington, MS, two sons, James Albert Collums, Jr. ”Annette” of Birmingham, AL, Jeffery Allen Collums, “Sonya” of Farmington, MS, five grandchildren, Sydney Collums, Hanna Collums, Aubrey  Collums, Reese Collums and Sawyer Collums.

Visitation will be held Thursday October 5, 2017 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service will be held Thursday October 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mickey Trammel officiating.  Burial will be in Collums Cemetery.
