James Norris King

James Norris King, 93, passed away on February 16, 2024, at his home in Bruce, MS. He was born on May 15, 1930, in Water Valley, MS, to the late C. V. and Ethel King.

On December 24, 1947, he married Jeanette Collins. They were married 70 years at the time of her death.

He worked for 51 years at Memphis Hardwood and was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, deer hunting, and could often be found working in the garden and in the flower beds.  He loved sharing his pecan crop with others. He was a very caring and generous man and never met a stranger.

Norris is survived by his daughter Brenda Harrelson, of Bruce, MS; grandchildren: LaDonna (Shane) O'Bannon, of Bruce, MS; Timmy (Krystal) King, of Bruce, MS; Corey (Rhonda) Harrelson, of Bruce, MS; Jared (Jill) Harrelson, of Mt. Washington, KY; and Jeffery King, of Eupora, MS; 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister Jackie Meads of Corpus Christi, TX; 37 nieces and nephews; and Tricia Lucius, who adopted him as her granddaddy.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette King; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Bonnie King; his parents C. V. and Ethel King; son-in-law Jerry Harrelson; 7 brothers; 3 sisters; and great-great grandson Cooper Gregory.

Visitation for Norris King will be Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Baker, Reed Gregory, Jared Harrelson, Randy Mann, Terry Massey, and Shane O'Bannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery King and the Mt. Comfort Men's Sunday School Class.
