James Robert Magness

James Robert Magness , Jr., 67 of Collierville, Tennessee formerly of Huntsville, Alabama died on Wednesday,
August 20, 2014, at his Residence in Collierville, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, September 11, 1946 in Fort Dix, New Jersey, he was the son of the late James Magness and the
late Mary Crawford Magness. He was the husband of Gloria Glenn Magness married August 3, 1973 .
He was a graduate of Auburn University and was employed by Huntsville Times as a Sportswirte & Copy Editor for
39 years.
Surviving are son, Yancy (Kelly) Magness of Olive Branch, MS, daughter, Laura (Matt) Parris of Mobile, AL, brother,
Howard Magness of Lafayette, LA, sisters, Minnie Watson of Anniston, AL and Oma Jean Maloney of Auburn, AL.
grandchildren Ivy Magness, Henson Magness, Josephine Magness, and PaigeParris.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Darrell
Logan officiating. Interment will be in Bruce Cemetery, Bruce, MS.
Pallbearers will be: Joe Carnaggio, Miles Jeffery, Brent Magness, Robert Edward Oakley, Eddie Quillen, and Jay
Reese.
