James Travis Smith, 75, of Calhoun City departed from this life on Thursday, September 01, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born on September 14, 1946, in Calhoun County to the late Edd Smith and Bertha Pettit Smith.

James spent many seasons of life working in a furniture factory for over 50 years retiring from MedLift. In his spare time, James enjoyed gardening and working on Volkswagons. James was a member of Thorn Church of God. James will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; wife, Patsy Gail Allred Smith of Calhoun City; three daughters: Linda (Eddie Wayne) Goodson of Calhoun City; Kathy (Red Man) Weaver of Houston; Missy (Daryl) Love of Vardaman; five sons: Ronnie (Cindy) Scott of Calhoun City; Travis (Natasha) Scott of Calhoun City; Donnie (Kim) Smith of Calhoun City; Jimmy (Donna) Smith of Houston, MS; Scotty Scott of Calhoun City; special daughter-in-law, Cindy Scott of Calhoun City; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Marie Pettit of Houlka; Ann Criddle of Georgia; Janie (Billy Wayne) Harrelson of Georgia, Bonnie Smith of Pontotoc; sister-in-law, Ann Smith of Houston, MS.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Edd Smith and Bertha Pettit Smith; two brothers: William Smith; Charles Smith; sister, Onita Hancock; brother-in-law, Raymond Pettit.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 03, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, September 03, 2022, at 3:00 PM, with Bro. Ronnie Scott and Bro. Anthony Dean officiating. Nick Bullard, Dylan Goodson, Brandon Scott, D.J. Scott, Seth Scott, and Kyle Poynor will carry James to rest in New Gauley Cemetery.
