James Delaine Turner, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a brief illness. Born on December 11, 1934 in Calhoun County to the late James Andrew Turner and Mary Maggie Massey Turner, Delaine was 84.
A millwright and logger for most of his life, Delaine was also a veteran, honorably serving as a Soldier in the United States Army. Among the many who mourn his passing are his church family at Bruce First Baptist Church, where he was a member.
Delaine leaves behind Son, Jimmy (Kali) Turner of Bruce; Daughter, Aneeda (Ricky) Russell of Bruce; Sisters, Maxine Cain and Brenda Campbell, both of Bruce; Grandchildren, Jeremy C. (Daraka) Brown, Andy Turner, Matthew Turner, and Joseph Turner; and Great-Grandchildren, Conner Brown, Cohen Brown, Canyon Brown, and Brayden Turner.
There will be a visitation with the family on Wednesday Evening, January 2, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A funeral service celebrating the life of Delaine will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home, with services starting at 2:00pm. Brother Darrell Logan will officiate.
Following funeral services, Delaine will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Serving the family as Pallbearers will be John Campbell, II, Tony Cain, Terry Leachman, Phillip Pettit, Jerry Snellings, Larry Snellings, Bubba Weeks, and Cody Weeks.
In addition to his parents, Delaine was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Myra Jo Blount Turner; Brothers, Gayle Turner and A.B. Turner; and Sisters, Jimmie Faye Davis, Dorothy Nell Spearman, and Helen Rushing.
